Reporting Delivery System
Nike – Canada
Role: Production Support Manager for Nike Corporate
Information. Project Manager to the ‘Canada Reporting Delivery’ project.
Challenge: I was asked to be the ‘new sheriff’ for Nike
Corporate Information and was given the highest priority to put Nike corporate
reporting on schedule and keep it there until new technology could replace it.
Action: Assembled a virtual team including over 30 staff,
business, and vendor experts. I worked with them to discover, select, and
implement alternatives. We narrowed fifty choices down to the eight with the
most benefit. I tasked the work out to available resources on four architectures
and wrote the project plan to run two projects at a time.
Results: Cut reporting preparation time in half and added six
months to the development window.
Nike
Financial and Corporate Reporting Integration
Nike International
Role: Project Manager to the ‘Nike International
Integration’ project.
Challenge: Replace a patchwork of solutions with a single point
of entry as well as integration with financial and corporate reporting.
Action: Replaced International order, pro forma, customs,
and sales systems. Led analysis, requirements, and development. Integrated with
Finance and removed duplicate entry, errors, and bottlenecks.
Results: A fully integrated system with savings of $225K /
year on vendor contracts alone.
European
Finance Reorganization
Nike – Europe Headquarters, Holland
Role: Project Manager to the ‘Nike Europe Reorganization’
project.
Challenge: Gaining the trust and cooperation of people who are
working themselves out of a job.
Action: Coordinated regional and country management to
define entities, processes, and transactions. Performed analyses throughout
Europe. Designed policies, databases, and interfaces. Directed development and
integration with global staff.
Results: Successful completion and ROI less than two years.
Nike Leadership Award
Storage and
Distribution System
Americold
Role: Development Manager for the Americold ‘Storage and
Distribution System’ project.
Challenge: Come into a runaway project, bring it under control,
and finish it.
Action: Multiplied communication in development. Introduced
project management including vendor management. Led peer reviews. Began data
management reviews. Performed integrated testing.
Results: Team understanding and focus on objectives and time
lines. Successful completion and implementation of the project.
Accounts
Receivable Realignment
Nike
Role: Project Manager to the Nike USA ‘Accounts
Receivable’ project.
Challenge: Create a world class Accounts Receivable and Credit
Management system.
Action: Built alignment between vendors, top management, and
the business unit. Presented a proposal for vice-presidential review; including
project objectives, schedule, resources, and risk.
Results: Received $750K funding to replace the Accounts
Receivable and Credit Management systems. The implementation was very
successful, the primary stakeholder won Finance employee of the year.
